Welcome to Primary to GCSE Tutoring
Primary to GCSE Tutoring helps young people across the key stages to identify and improve on identified areas within English, Maths and Science. We can help prepare students for: 11+ exams, Common Entrance Examinations, SATs and GCSEs. We offer individual learning programmes to cater to your child’s needs. Each session includes working on identified topic areas and ongoing progress reporting and regular tutor feedback. Our qualified tutors use proven methods and techniques which will bring out the best in your child from Year 3 to Year 11 level.
At GCSE tutoring we believe that ‘one size does not fit all’ and we pride ourselves on promoting the best interests of the students. Our Alumni have gone onto pursue undergraduate studies in accountancy, medicine, science, maths and the list continues… Our job is to help students along in achieving their dreams and we are very proud to play a small part in shaping and inspiring future generations. We follow the national curriculum framework however, because tuition is either 1-1 or in small groups, this more personalised approach allows our tutors to go beyond this framework and discover the subjects in a greater depth and breadth according to the student's needs, interests, and goals.
A huge welcome to our Home-Schooled students who are studying with us, we look forward to working with you on your educational journey and helping you to achieve your learning pursuits and goals.

Emma Davis
Principal
I am a qualified English Lecturer and previously a Head of Department for a College in East Kent. In 2016, I started GCSE Tutoring and I’m pleased to say it has been such a success that it is now my full-time job. I specialise in GCSE English Language as I have taught the subject for 12 years and I am also an Examiner for two awarding bodies.
Rohit Antonygnaneswaran
I am an undergraduate student studying Chemistry at University of Oxford. Emma tutored me for my English GCSEs and thanks to her I was able to achieve top grades. I have been tutoring primary school students for nearly a year now, preparing them for their 11+ examinations. I have found tutoring a very rewarding role and hopefully can help more students improve in their studies too.
Rocksy Antonygnaneswaran
I am an undergraduate occupational therapy student currently studying at the University of Southampton. I am very passionate about sharing my love of maths and science with others. I hope to help students master difficult concepts, achieve their academic goals and make learning new skills enjoyable!
Leanne Chase
I am a qualified English teacher and have been the subject lead for two colleges in Kent. I have had 9 years experience teaching A-Level English Language, GCSE English Language and Functional Skills English. In recent years I have branched into Primary Education with my current role being a SENCO Assistant where I work with staff and Specialist Teachers to support children with Special Educational needs and Disabilities.
Leon Gregary
I am currently a medical student studying at Lancaster University. I specialise in Maths mainly at KS3 & GCSE. I aim to deliver friendly, comprehensible teaching sessions in which I enable students to develop their skills.
Katie Williams
I am an undergraduate medical student studying at Lancaster University. Enjoying Maths and Science throughout my studies has inspired me to become a tutor in these subject areas. I love to teach others and to share what I have learned. I endeavour to make lessons interactive and with my friendly personality it provides a comfortable environment to learn and to ask questions.
Abigail Johnson
I am a post-graduate with a Bachelor's in combined English Literature/Medieval History, a Master's in Creative Writing, and a love for teaching that once led to my six year old self very primly stating: "When I grow up, I'm going to be a teacher." I did not, in fact, become a teacher, but instead found something much better: one-on-one tuition. Thanks to Emma, this dream has become my real-life job. Since graduating, I have provided supplementary learning to a student in home education for two years and have now been working with Emma for a year. I focus primarily on foundational knowledge of English and building textual analysis skills.
Karen Smith
I have been an English teacher for thirty years, twenty of which were in Senior Management, although my real passion is for my subject. I have examined and moderated for a range of exam boards at GCSE and A Level and am currently a Senior Examiner for GCSE English Language. My first degree was BA (hons) in English Literature and I also have a Masters in Education. I am enjoying tutoring students in GCSE English Language and GCSE Literature and can also provide tutoring in A Level English Literature.
Alice Willis
I am a qualified English teacher and spend my days teaching both Language and Literature to secondary school pupils. I’ve taught in a college setting, the state sector and the independent sector. My favourite unit to teach is definitely An Inspector Calls but imaginative writing isn’t far off the top spot, either!
Jessica Costen
I’m a qualified primary school teacher with a range of experience from reception up to year 6. I have worked in special education needs settings, mainstream, rural and urban locations, all the children coming from a range of different backgrounds, cultures and ranged in terms of ability from those who have a statement or have additional/special needs to those that are classified as gifted and talented. Being part of a child’s journey seeing the individual progress each child makes is one of the most rewarding parts of the job.
Look at what our students have to say...
I began lessons with Emma because I had lost a lot of teaching time at school due to the pandemic and I was already struggling in English. I was worried as English is not a subject that you can revise for and that’s why I was anxious if I will be able to do well in my GCSEs. But Emma, in less than one year, helped me from being projected a grade 6 to a predicted 8. The same teacher who said I was “slacking” was impressed by my assessment piece for my GCSE portfolio which I attained 14/15 marks. Before starting Emma’s lessons, I was concerned because I couldn’t get my head around on how to answer the exam questions. However, Emma taught me the skills and techniques required to get the most marks. Every lesson I had with Emma, I progressed more and more every time, finally getting the grip of the skills and improving my work with Emma’s advice. She is the reason why I was
able to get that A* this year. She was the reason why my sister got an A* last year. I’m so thankful that Emma has taught me for GCSE English Language. Anyone who intends on needing tuition for
their English Lang GCSE, I would 100% recommend Emma to tutor them.
